Skin Diving Snorkeling Package |
| A Scuba diving package is very different from a Skin diving package
because of the difference in activity. Surface temperatures and bottom
temperatures can vary depending upon the location. Snorkelers expend a
considerable amount of energy, have lower in water drag, and only remain
in warmer shallow water with exposure to sun light for short periods of
time. Therefore, their equipment performance needs are much less. A
lower thrust less efficient fin, and low top booties can be utilized.
Because a skin diver spends far more time at the surface resting in the
waves, an automatic dry snorkel, or semi-dry snorkel is very desirable,
and safer than an open tube model. It is important to note that the
"buddy system" as used for snorkeling activities is the exact opposite
of Scuba. Snorkelers take turns going up and down, and their dive buddy
rests on the surface and acts as a safety diver for the diver below.
Therefore, a narrow vision single or two window mask can be utilized.
However, you will not get the benefit of the panoramic view of the
marine environment. |

Scuba Divers Snorkeling Packages |
| Scuba diving usually requires the use of thermal protection. Scuba
divers require high top boots for additional protection for their
extremities, and so it will mate with a wetsuit and not leave any
exposed skin to injury. Because Scuba divers are not exposed to the
radiant heat of the sun light, and typically dive in deeper cooler
waters. They also experience total immersion, and the fact that they
produce much less heat because they move slower. The head which is the
least well insulated part of the body. Scuba divers also expend far less
energy and therefore generate less heat from the assorted muscle groups.
Heat loss is 25 times faster in the water than in air, so a 3 mm thick
wetsuit is usually required for water temperatures below 80F degrees. As
depth increases, the thermal value of the wetsuit decreases rapidly. A 3
mm wetsuit instantly turns into a 1.5 mm wetsuit with a 50% drop in
thermal protection at shallow 33 ft depths. A wetsuit will also protects
the diver from sea water hazards and injury from coral, barnacle
abrasions, fire coral, and jelly fish. Scuba also requires the use of
high thrust fins for mobility, and a wide view multi lens mask to keep
track of their dive buddy, obstacles, and potential marine life risks.
Snorkels are used as a safety device, and for surface swimming during
Scuba activities, so a large bore less expensive model with a wave cap
is adequate. |
