Fins for Scuba Divers and
Snorkelers |
|
Scuba diving fins
are simply extensions of your feet. The purpose of the fin is to
increase the foot's effective propelling surface, enabling the
diver to move more efficiently and with greater thrust through
the water. There are many snorkeling and scuba fins
available on the market today. |
|
FINS
GENERAL: The diver’s fins are not simply extensions of
your feet. The purpose of the fin is to increase your effective
propelling surface. This will enable the diver to move more
efficiently, and with greater thrust, and speed through the
water. Although there a multitude of fins available on the
market today, we choose to only carry the best, most proven
designs. The Tusa products have been proven to offer superior
performance, comfort, and quality of materials. With thousands
already sold we have experienced zero returns! Everyone loves
them, and so will you! |
|
FIN TYPES:
Today's fins can be grouped into the following 3 categories: |
|
STRAP FINS: Strap
fins which offer the best performance and comfort. These are
used for both Scuba and snorkeling use. For sport diving the
split fin type is by far the winner offering cramp free comfort
and extremely high performance.
These fins tend to be the
favorite among both scuba & snorkeling divers. Allowing the
usage of dive boots, these fins can be worn in any thermal
climate. Paddle style fins are for those divers requiring high
take off speeds like swift water rescue, Police divers, and
spear fisherman, and DiveMasters. The Tusa Tri-Ex offers a tough
lightweight fin that will exceed your needs. |
|
SHOE FINS: Most shoe fins
cannot provide enough thrust to push a Scuba diver with all his
equipment on. Without wetsuit boots this type of close heel fin
becomes very uncomfortable very quickly. Blisters, and extreme
discomfort are typical results of less then 45 minutes of use.
Without booties, you are also doomed to walking bare foot on the
docks, beach, boat decks, sharp rocks, jelly fish stingers, fire
coral, and become exposed to the assorted marine hazards before
you even get to the water and put your fins on. These type of
fins are typically sold in sporting goods stores, not
professional dive shops. Most are cheap, and are also the cause
of 90% of the serious vacation foot injuries.
Note:
These are not generally accepted for Scuba certification
training programs. |
|
OPEN HEEL SWIM FINS:
These new fins are specially designed for both open water, live
aboard sail boats, swim boards, and swimming pool use. These new
Tusa hybrid design fins are affordable, do not require any
wetsuit booties, yet offer amazing comfort. The soft adjustable
strap provides personal tension adjustment for amazing comfort.
These offer just enough thrust, and offer the resistance
required for the perfect exercise work out. These are used by
most high school swim teams, injury rehab, and for exercise
programs. Low cost, compact size, and very lightweight are why
these are so popular, However, they are not suitable for Scuba
diving because of the lower thrust. |
